Student Affairs Professionals Launch Online Orientation Platform

Student Affairs professionals at the University of Portland (UP) chose Advantage Orientation^® as their preferred online orientation platform. When the whole of Higher Education needed to pivot to online learning strategies, the Student Affairs professionals at UP did, too. The new online orientation platform launched at UP is built on Advantage Orientation^® by Advantage Design Group^®.

UP announced the production of their new online orientation last summer. According to Jeromy Koffler, Director of Student Activities, and head of the Orientation planning committee, “Advantage Design Group^® is a multimedia design and software company that specializes in creating custom online orientation programs for universities. Through interactive text, quizzes, videos, and slideshows, UP’s new Orientation platform presents key information in a fun and engaging format. As students complete each module, they’re free to move on to the next, and they can revisit the modules anytime they like." 

“While some technology can feel impersonal, the way the platform is built, it’s not impersonal at all. The platform allows us to enhance the character of the institution before students get here,” Koffler said. “The new online orientation platform is a game-changer."

Since launching their new pre-arrival online orientation on schedule, UP has welcomed and prepared over 1,000 new students to transition to “Life on the Bluff” with greater success.

Meet Advantage Design Group^® at ASACCU Conference June 21-24

The Association of Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASACCU) promotes the exploration and sharing of knowledge to further holistic student development founded on Catholic mission, values, and identity. ASACCU provides professional development opportunities for those working in student affairs at Catholic colleges and universities. 

ASACCU’s Annual Conference will be hosted at the University of Portland this summer and Advantage Design Group^® will be on hand to support the event. Student affairs professionals will have the opportunity to learn how Advantage Orientation^® is integrated into the total UP new student orientation program. One of the conference’s purposes is to share tools, resources, best practices, and challenges, with relevance for student affairs professionals at all levels and career stages.
