NYU Stern’s Pre Orientation Wins Council for Advancement and Support of Education Award

The Undergraduate College (UC) at New York University Stern College of Business Pre Orientation earned a Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) award. The program was recognized as a Silver-Level Winner in their Circle of Excellence Awards for its Pre-Orientation innovation. NYU Stern chose to build their award-winning pre-orientation on Advantage Orientation^®, initially launched in August 2020.  In the spirit of partnership, we are humbled and proud to share this remarkable success story!

Metrics Speak for Themselves

In remarks from the judges, the first-year experience looked very different for millions of students last year, forcing universities to quickly adapt to virtual onboarding. NYU Stern was “the best one we reviewed, thanks to intensive user and comparative research, and diligent project management of numerous subject matter experts and stakeholders across the organization. The team created a focused, digestible, easy-to-navigate onboarding experience that felt relevant and useful and did so under an extremely tight timeframe.” The metrics speak for themselves: 98% completion rate and 90+% satisfaction with the pre-orientation content.

Potter, Senior Assistant Dean, Student Experience & Dean’s Special Projects, “what the competition judges had to say about our work is a powerful reminder of how hard each and every one of us works every day to collaborate across functions to create a world-class experience for our students.” The UC Student Experience Team includes the UC Offices of Communications, Student Engagement, and the Undergraduate Dean.

Engaging & Effective

Conceived and executed by Assistant Director of Communications Lendon Ebbins, the pre-orientation provided 716 incoming first-year NYU Stern undergraduate students with a frictionless onboarding experience. Fast-tracked in response to real-time COVID-19 developments, the platform’s content spans the five pillars of the NYU Stern student experience (Academics, Global, Social Impact, Professional, and Community) and includes videos, written content, and quizzes featuring leadership, faculty, students, and staff across NYU and Stern.
