Online Orientation is Tech Hub for Operation Sparta

Norfolk State University is a Historically Black University (HBCU) in coastal Virginia. The campus culture is energetic and resourceful — a place where staff are enthusiastic and use ingenuity to produce the best for their students. So, when the restrictions of 2020 prevented NSU from producing its highly anticipated summer orientation programs, doing things differently became a requirement.

NSU had yet to try any kind of online orientation. Alexis Martin had just taken on the role of Associate Director of New Student Orientation & Prospective Student Experience. As a one-person orientation department, Alexis recognized Advantage Orientation as an onboarding solution to expand her capacity and provide new students and their families with the personalized orientation experience they expect.

When it came to choosing her options, the features and production services included in Advantage Orientation met her "A List" criteria:

Since launching "Operation Sparta," Alexis has positioned NSU for any future onboarding contingency and is serving students and their families more responsively. Orientation is running more efficiently, the NSU brand is consistently presented at its best, campus partners are engaged and involved, AND the system is producing measurable returns. 

The first cohort of students completed NSU's online orientation at a rate of 90.5%.
